According to the latest census by The Croatian Bureau of Statistics in April 2011, the permanent population of Croatia had reached 4.29 million with a density of 75.8 inhabitants per square kilometre. The population rose steadily from 2.1 million in 1857 until 1991, when it peaked at 4.7 million.
Actually the birth rate is 9.8 per 1,000 pop., less than death rate, which is 12.1 per 1,000 pop..
Languages
The official language of Croatia is the Croatian language, but Czech, Hungarian, Italian, Ruthenian, Serbian and Slovakian are officially used in some local government units.
